Remote Access File Rights/Firewall
For security reasons, remote users from other machines should
not be allowed to modify or create certain files. Some types
of viruses create virus carrier files that are uploaded into
the network. You can selectively allow or bar specific file
types from being created or modified. There are four frames,
each of which allows you to assign files for a specific task.
Each frame has a list box that displays included names in the
non-editable display rows and a field to enter file name extensions.
Three buttons are provided for each frame that allows you to
add, delete or remove a name from the list.
You can specify file types that remote users are allowed/not
allowed to create and modify.
The feature is found in eScan Content Administrator
> Remote Access File Rights
The features are marked in red in the following screen.

Download Auto Updates
Updates are vaccines created by MicroWorld to remove new virus
that have appeared or may have infected your system. These
are stored in our dedicated download mirror sites. When you
install eScan, it checks your system and refreshes some of
the fields in the eScan Updater user interface. MicroWorld
has assigned the most optimum default values for download
sites, mode of connecting to these sites, time interval for
download of updates, etc. Change the values only if required.
Typically the updates are up to 10 KB in size, so downloads
are fast.
Settings for downloading updates are pre-configured. If required
you can change settings for downloading updates. The following
are the key features:
- Bandwidth saving incremental updates for Dial-Up users
- Daily updates
- Separate executable cumulative updates available

Notifications
When a virus is detected or mails and attachment with restricted
words and phrases are found that violate the security policy,
the message can be deleted, quarantined or disinfected. A
customized notification message can be sent to the sender,
receiver or others, informing them about the action taken.

Register with WSC
eScan reports to WSC for Monitor status and updates in XP
SP2. Windows Security Center from Microsoft checks security
features of the system. You can register eScan with WSC. On
XP windows with SP2 installed, eScan can be registered with
the Windows Security Center (WSC). Once registered, eScan
will be regarded as a genuine application.
Warning Messages if Virus Signatures not downloaded for
three days
MicroWorld provides free virus signatures. eScan can be configured
to download them at a fixed time. New viruses appear almost
every day and can threaten your system. It is important that
the signatures be downloaded everyday. If the signatures are
more than three days old, then a warning message is given
so that you can immediately download them.
Auto deployment of license
The eScan Management Console (eServ) module allows you to
deploy licenses to all eScan clients in the network. The new
feature of eScan ensures that when new licenses are available,
they are automatically deployed to all clients.
Detection of Spyware and Keyloggers
Spywares and Keyloggers are hackers tools that give hackers
access to your system. Spywares allow people hackers to spy
on your machine and see your files. Keyloggers record all
keyboard commands that you run. If these tools have been installed
on your system, hackers can easily steal your identity, passwords,
credit card information, etc. eScan detects and removes such
malicious applications from your system.
Firewall mode for Win 9x machines
Machines running on 9x are prone to be very slow and if eScan
is running on them, sometimes the machines do not respond
and crash. If Firewall mode is selected then Win 9x machines
do not slow down. But the firewall mode is enabled with low
system security.
Installing with Microsoft SMS
